Description

A patented, first-to-market replacement for standard wooden and plastic pallets to enhance protection of products; utilize automation; reduce labor costs; and cut the high cost of single-use pallets.  The collapsible corner uprights bear the weight of the upper cargo rather than the lower pallet product packaging thus reducing the need for expensive protective packaging costs while also reducing the risk of product damage.

Purpose

To provide companies access to reusable steel pallets with a 10-year life expectancy, reducing per-use cost to $0.25-$0.45.  To provide an opportunity to depreciate the steel pallets over ten years and further reduce operational costs, all while reducing the risk of freight damage.  The standardized size allows automation to move the pallets without human touch, resulting in savings in labor costs, although forklifts can be utilized if desired.

Safety Benefits                                                                       

Our ECO Stackable Steel Pallets are designed to securely stack two high inside trailers and railcars, and up to six high inside storage facilities. Loading and unloading trailers when double-stacked reduces time and, when our automation is used, cuts the time to unload a full trailer to just 7 minutes per load, without the risk of costly labor injuries or product damage.

Added Value

Our ECO Stackable Steel Pallets were tested to stack 6 high, thus eliminating the need for high-cost racking.  The dimensions allow use in intermodal truck trailers, intermodal railcars, and small last-mile delivery vans.

Sustainability

Wooden pallet production destroys over 1 million acres of U.S. forests annually, and they are often injected with fire retardants and insecticides, both of which can impact groundwater in landfill areas. Each wooden and plastic pallet requires 170 linear feet of plastic wrap, leading to billions of pounds of plastic that are ultimately sent to landfills. Wooden pallets are often used once, and the average wooden pallet is used only 6 times and therefore has a per-use cost of $4 for the pallet, plus another $2 for plastic wrap. By comparison, ECO Stackable Steel Pallets have a $0.50-$0.75 per-use cost.
